MICHELE WALTHERS is a freelance Art Director with 25+ years in art direction, visual strategy, magazine publishing, book publishing, digital marketing, conceptual design, branding, photo art direction and typography. As a well seasoned art director, graphic designer and visual storyteller, she has been responsible for the visual identity of many brands, implementing the objective of marketing directors by working with photographers, photo editors and stylists. Clients include: ACG, Cosmopolitan, DREW, Estée Lauder, Fresh Step, George Mason University, Gourmet, Jo Malone, Martha Stewart Living, New York Magazine, Real Simple, Scholastic, Parents, Time Inc. Custom Publishing, This Old House, Travel + Leisure, Wine Spectator, YMCA.  

She has art directed and designed several nationally published books including This Old House Easy Upgrades: Built-Ins, Shelves & Storage, Real Simple Cleaning, Real Simple Weddings Vol. 1-3 and Real Simple 869 New Uses for Old Things.

Michele received her BFA in fine arts at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, studying under abstract expressionist artist, Don Kunz. She has been working in the design field since 1996 and specialties include: art directing and producing photo shoots, prop styling, photography, direct mail, staff management, production and pre-press/imaging. She also received her pastry certificate from The Culinary Institute, formally known as Peter Kump Culinary School, in New York City.
